We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the local Singapore engineering team. You will manage a small, tightly knit and agile team of developers who build the server half of our mobile telephony application. We need a dynamic leader that can handle the personnel and technical issues involved in a fast paced engineering environment.
The ideal candidate has experience understanding the trade offs between getting something out the door today and building code that will see us through the next several releases without needing a rewrite to enhance the functionality. The server must meet strict performance and uptime requirements, which spells an interesting and exciting engineering challenge. You will have an opportunity to closely interact with product management, professional services, the mobile handset team, and customers to contribute to the shape of this new product line.

This position reports directly to the VP of Engineering.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead and manage team of development and quality assurance engineers
- Collaborate with engineering teams in the US, Europe, and Shanghai
- Project manage product releases driven out of Singapore office
- Help support and operations teams resolve critical customer production issues
- Collaborate with product management team in setting requirements and priorities for releases
- Collaborate on end-to-end service design and architecture with architects in the US and the client team in Finland
Minimum Qualifications
- A successful track record of managing and successfully delivering software products while meeting aggressive deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with Product Management, and major customers throughout the different software lifecycle.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience with telecommunications software development, including carrier grade quality and performance requirements and network management integration.
- Strong technical background, previous experience as software engineer, 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams
- Experience leading QA and development teams
- Familiarity with C,C++, Java, code design and implementation
- Have a balanced and rational approach to conflicting priorities, requirements and goals
Additional Qualifications
The ideal candidate would meet all the following qualifications, though these are not necessary for a candidate to be considered for the position:
- - Lead a team to ship a shrink-wrapped software product through multiple releases
- - Prior experience collaborating with teams in the United States and/or Europe
- - More than 6 years experience leading engineering teams
- - Familiarity with developing a complete end-to-end mobile service
- - Familiar with managing comprehensive load, longevity, and performance testing
- - Ingrained knowledge of the complex operating and management requirements of telecommunications network equipment
- Experience with object-oriented design and development principles, and working with industry standard engineering processes and methods.
- Enjoy and excel in a results, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience in working with a distributed development team in various geographic locations.
- Be able to entertain multiple points of view and make justifiable tradeoff decisions.
Educational Requirements
- MS in Computer Science, a related field of education, or commensurate experience.
